SARASOTA –– This will be a first for the Sarasota County School Board when they meet tomorrow afternoon.
They won’t see each other, but they will hear one another as they meet virtually over phone lines.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to maintain social distancing, board members opted to meet in this fashion instead of an in-person meeting, unlike the Sarasota County commissioners who will meet Wednesday in the same format they used on March 24.
An executive order from Gov. Ron DeSantis approved virtual meetings of governing bodies in the state.
Members of the public can listen to the meeting by calling either 1-(888) 475-4499 or 1-(877) 853-5257, and when prompted, entering the ID number 532 549 747.
The school board will also accept public comments through email to [email protected] today and Tuesday. All public comments must be received by 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting is posted at www.sarasotacountyschools.net/Page/2572.
Anyone needing further information about the meeting can email Kathy Tomkins at [email protected].
